The hotel room I stayed in was average. I had a nice view of the Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
I ate at the Sherwood Forest Cafe, the service was alright, the hostess wasn't very friendly, and the food was terrible. DO NOT eat at the buffet (even though the price is cheap), the food was okay if you like boiled hotdogs and salad. The buffet line was extremely messy and the waitresses/waiters are rude and apparently unsatisfied with their jobs.
The bars around the casino are decent, and the service is pretty good. You are offered free drinks on the casino floor, but don't expect to be noticed by the waitresses. The cocktail waitresses are not very pleasant to look at and rarely return even after a two or three dollar tip.
The slot machines are very tight, go further north on the strip to play the slots. The table games are alright, but play at a table towards the center of the floor because guests checking in and out are constantly dragging suitcases down the aisles. This becomes distracting and could even cause you to lose money.
If you are on a budget, the Excalibur is a fine hotel. If you want to eat at a great buffet, take the tram to Mandalay Bay and eat at the Bayside Buffet. The slots can be loose at the Bellagio and higher end casinos. For a great view of the strip, definitely check out the Stratosphere observation deck at sunset or night. The Manhattan Express rollercoaster nextdoor at the NY NY Casino is pricey at $10-a-ride but worth doing, also check out the rides at the Sahara.

i gotta disagree with the review of the food below. ITS AWFUL. i do stay at ex due to the kids, but I try not to eat there. Krispy Kreme is everywhere! What's Dunkin Donuts? I will stay at home to eat my Krispy Kremes. I want to get nice meals when I am on vacation. Mandalay has a great buffet and it isnt too far from the Ex. My conclusion: The casino is big, the rooms are so-so, but NOT bad; no nightmares or bad housekeeping experiences for me. But it seemed low-class and dingy in the lobbys and hallways inside the hotel. N the food is bad. baaaaad. That buffet is so NASTY. Blah! Thanks.

EXCALIBUR IS ONE OF THE BEST HOTEL/CASINO'S I HAVE EVER BEEN TO THE EMPLOYEES WERE VERY HELPFUL AND ACCOMIDATING. THE ROOMS ARE QUIET AND PEACFULI HAVE NEVER REALLY BEEN LUCKY IN ANY OF THE OTHER CASINOS BUT EXCALIBUR IS WHERE I SEEM TO WIN MOST OF MY MONEY I TAKE HOME. KRISPY KREME'S IS THE BOMB THEY PUT DUNKIN DOUGHNUTS AND ANY OTHER DOUGHNUT BUSINESSES TO SHAME. I LOVED THE SHOW AND ALL OF THE FOOD I COULDN'T STOP EATING WHILE I WAS THERE.

We stayed at Luxor last Dec. and went to Excalibur one day...oops. The buffet was the worst dining experience, ever. I am not usually a buffet person, but when Sir Galahads was closed (for no reason, this was 8 PM on a Thursday night) we said OK, might azs well try their buffet. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! fatty meats, cold pastas, nasty salad prep, dirty dishes ( I mean, c'mon, this is buffet 101, clean dishes)
The server was rally good though, we ran her for drinks and tipped her well. hey, she didnt cook that slop. SHe admitted that that this palce wasn't all that. I am glad we didnt stay there!
But if you got kids, then eoither this place or Circus Circus is the place to go, and there is an "element" at the CC so I say, if you are bringing young ones, go to Excal...but DONT eat there!

I had previously heard alot of negative comments about the Excalibur, and I must say half of them were accurate. Athough the hotel was in a great location, the place itself is really showing it's age...kind of dingy, dirty and overcrowded. Check in was a breeze, but the staff looked like hell. The hallway to the room was dark and dank, which made the room hard to find. The room itself was probably one of the ugliest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in, although the view was good from the 22nd floor. The window would only open a crack (probably to discourage someone from trying to commit suicide) which made the room even more stale. The breakfast buffet was horrible...go next door to the Luxor for much better quality. The casino though was a winner...the slots were quite loose. The pool sucked. I was surprised to see that there were hardly any kids, which was a plus. Yes, this hotel is one of the cheaper properties on the strip, but you really do get what you pay for- not much. All in all, don't stay or eat here...just gamble.

I stayed at the Excalibur 2 years ago, and I plan to go back next month. Nothing can beat the value. The rooms were all I needed, a place to sleep and shower! They have a wide variety of food available, quick snacks to upscale steaks. I was worried the first time that I might be overwhelmed by the kids, but I hardly saw any! The Tournament of Kings made for great entertainment for a wonderful price, and the casino doesn't seem to be any better or worse than the others. Great breakfast buffet, and friendly service!! If you want to do Vegas for cheap, stay at the Excalibur during the week.

I dont know why everyone is complaining. The hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and the only bad thing was when we asked for a non-smoking room, we instead got a smoking room. even though it was a smoking room, there were no burns or anything on the carpet, and there was only a slight hint of smoking in the room. And when my brother decided he wanted to plug up the toilet, we called room service andf they explained what to do very politely, and someone was up in our room to assist us in like less that 2 minutes. we got a great view, we were like on the 8th floor or somehting like that. And we had an excellent view to the side facing NY, NY. Very nice view in room. Lighting is very good unlike NY, NY. The arcade is kind of dumb and small. And the food is pretty good as a surprise. Good family hotel.

I stayed for only one night----which ended up to be a good thing! The T.V. was broken and unable to turn it off or on, the remote control had no batteries, the light on the night stand had no way to turn off and on! There was blue stringy like stuff over the bed on the ceiling! I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel to anyone! I had stayed there many times before and it was fine, but this was so bad that my mind has changed! I would rather pay a little bit more and get better quality!

For these people who liked this hotel, you are crazy! How could you like this cheap, un-friendly, horrible hotel? It took us at least two hours to check in, we asked for a room with at least a little bit of a view...we were staring at the wall and a alley between two towers, the staff seemed to be mad about everything, and when we went to do swimming at 6:00, the pool was closed! This is LAS VEGAS, why are the pools closing at 6:00 on a Sunday? The rooms are defently on the cheaper side compared to all these other hotels in Las Vegas, but if I were going to go again, I'd spend a little bit more money and stay at a better hotel, no question!

I stayed at the Excalibur this past week and had a great time. It was my first time in Vegas so I was not quite sure what to expect. Personally, the only thing I would not recommend paying full price to see the Tournament of Kings. Although the show was good, the amount of food and quality of the food was not that great. I was thankful that I only paid half-price. The breakfast buffet was very good and offer a great selection. And, the chicken sandwiches at Sherwood Cafe were very good. Overall I had a really good first experience and would stay at this hotel again without question. The majority of the staff were very friendly and helpful although there definitely some that could learn how to smile.

TO THE PEOPLE WHO SEEM TO THINK THE HALLWAYS AND THE ROOMS ARE TOO DARK I THINK THE REASON IS BECAUSE THIS HOTEL IS SUPPOSE TO RESEMBLE A CASTLE,BUT AS I MENTIONED ON MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS FOR THE PRICE WE PAID THE HOTEL ITSELF IS OK IT WOULD BE BETTER IF THE EMPLOYEES WERE MORE PEOPLE ORIENTED.A SMILE DOES NOT COST ANYTHING,GOOD SERVICE BRINGS PEOPLE BACK

MY HUSBAND AND I STAYED AT THE EXCALIBUR IN 1993 AND WE WERE VERY PLEASED BACK THEN THAT'S THE REASON WHY WE TOLD OUR TRAVEL AGENT WE WANTED TO STAY THERE IN SEPT OF THIS YEAR,BOY,WERE WE EVER WRONG.NOT ONLY WE HAD TO WAIT ALMOST TWO HOURS TO CHECK IN,ONCE WE GOT TO THE DESK THE GIRL DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT US MUCH LESS SMILED,I REQUESTED A ROOM WITH A VIEW AND THE ONLY VIEW WE HAD WAS LOOKING UP AT THE MONORAIL FROM OUR FIRST FLOOR ROOM,GRANTED OUR TRAVEL AGENT GOT US A SPECIAL RATE SO PERHAPS THAT'S THE REASON WHY WE GOT THAT ROOM BUT SMILING AND BEING FRIENDLY DOES NOT COST ANYTHING. AS A SOCIAL WORKER AND A HUMAN BEING I KNOW A SMILE AND FRIENDLINESS GO A LONG WAY,EVEN IF THE ROOMS ARE NOT THE GREATEST IF THE EMPLOYEES ARE FRIENDLY AND THE SERVICE IS GOOD PATRONS WILL WANT TO GO BACK.EMPLOYEES MAKE OR BRAKE A BUSINESS AND I'M SORRY TO SAY THAT THE EXCALIBUR'S EMPLOYEES ARE GOING TO BRAKE IT.PERHAPS THEY NEED TO TRAIN THEIR EMPLOYEES TO BE MORE PEOPLE ORIENTED,SENSITIVE TO THEIR GUESTS NEEDS AND EVEN IF THEY ARE HAVING A BAD DAY WHEN GUESTS ARE CHECKING IN THEY SHOULD TRY TO MAKE THE GUESTS FEEL WELCOME AFTER ALL THEY ARE PROVIDING A SERVICE AND IF IT WASN'T FOR THE GUESTS THEY WOULD NOT HAVE A JOB.GUESTS MUST BE TREATED WITH RESPECT REGARDLESS WHETHER THEY ARE STAYING AT THE MOST EXPENSIVE SUITE OR AT THE CHEAPEST ROOM.SERVICE IS WHAT KEEPS PEOPLE COMING BACK.NOW THAT OUR CHILDREN ARE GROWN AND ON THEIR OWN WE ARE PLANNING TO TRAVEL TO LAS VEGAS MORE OFTEN LIKE TWO OR THREE TIMES A YEAR BUT I'M 100% SURE THAT WE WILL NOT BE STAYING AT YOUR HOTEL.I KNOW THIS REVIEW WILL BE IGNORED AND THERE WONT BE A REPLY BUT IT FELT GOOD TO SAY HOW WE FELT "WORTHLESS"
